The most important story in global warming science (possibly in all of science) this past week has been the discovery that tree ring research used to produce the well publicized IPCC "hockey sticks" is totally bogus. The end result of this news.......
This is huge news that has gigantic implications, both economic and political. Since this past global warming was not extraordinary, it can no longer be extrapolated by global warming alarmists as producing catastrophic climate change causing the polar ice sheets to melt, thus causing incredible sea rises with associated "drowning" of coastal areas. All the catastrophic calamities that Al Gore, President Obama, the EU and the United Nations have claimed are based on false conclusions from bogus tree ring research. It would now be fair and accurate to conclude that the trillions of dollars that politicians want to spend on the reduction of CO2 emissions and the imposition of a drastically lower energy lifestyle on the world's citizens is totally without merit. Catastrophic climate change is kaput; 'Copenhagen in December' is irrelevant; and, long live the glorious benefits of CO2 emissions.
So with the magnitude of this global warming science shattering news being incredibly obvious, has any major news outlet science reporter or any major news outlet (New York Times, BBC, Washington Post, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and etc.) had a story of this subject and its global significance? As of early Saturday morning (October 3, 2009), a Google News search on "Steve McIntyre" or "Keith Briffa", the major opposing players in this story, show no stories by any of the principal science reporters who represent the dominant mainstream news organs. None of these "crack" reporters, nor their representative organizations have mentioned a peep. Nada! Why?
Well, the answer to "Why?" is pretty well known. This present example of mainstream media failure affirms why it has lost the credibility and confidence of public, and why these news organizations have become failed business entities that have the look-and-feel of shriveled up raisins they are.
