Global cooling has not abated. The world is not experiencing global warming. In the case of U.S. cooling, it has generally been happening since 1998. If the trend for the U.S. were to continue, temperatures would drop 9 degrees over a 100 year span - that's an ice age type of change. The global decline trend in temperatures since November 2000 is much more modest (-1.4°F per 100 years) due to satellite measurements including the vast ocean areas. Oceans are very slow to cool or warm versus large land masses, confirming why global average temperatures would not change as fast as the continental U.S. land mass. (click images to enlarge)
