Read here. The greatest catastrophe facing humankind, global warming, and the pro-catastrophists can only find 25 scientists to sign a letter pleading with Congress and Obama to save the world at the Copenhagen COP15 meeting? It was just a week ago that the English major, who is Obi-Wan's Climate Czar, assured us there were 2,500 scientists who agree with the IPCC conclusion that human CO2 is the cause of all global warming and the resultant calamities that will befall the world, unless we impose economic conditions of the 19th century upon ourselves to avoid it.
How did the 2,500 drop to 25 overnight? Because....
the "2,500 climate scientists" is one of those factoids that in reality is one of those BIG LIES. In the latest IPCC study, there was only a single chapter (Chapter 9 — Understanding and Attributing Climate Change) that specifically dealt with the hypothesis that human CO2 was the cause of global warming. The authors of that chapter concluded that human CO2 was the cause. This key, critical IPCC chapter had only 53 climate scientist authors. This chapter was reviewed by 55 climate scientist reviewers. Only 7 of the reviewers approved of the chapter, either completely or partially. So, throughout the entire climate scientist world, only a total of 60 climate scientists approved of the IPCC's conclusion that human CO2 was the cause.
Now, as a result of Climategate scandal, the number is only 25 who willingly come forward to support all the lies, corruption, and science fraud that the IPCC has condoned or sponsored, take your pick.
BTW, how did the '2,500' myth get started? It's called propaganda and the IPCC has been at it for a couple of decades. For the 2007 IPCC study, they created the below flyer, which certainly provides the UN-IPCCs imprimatur that 2,500 climate scientists approved the key finding of man-made global warming.
Are there any scientists that openly oppose the IPCC's findings? How about 9,000 PhD scientists? Does that sound like a few? Or, of the 1,100 scientific papers containing the phrase 'global climate change' only about 1% of the papers agreed with the acclaimed consensus: "most of the observed warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations." Definitely not a reverberating endorsement of IPCC climate science.
