Read here. New Zealand's politicians seem to be firmly in the camp that the world-is-about-to-end due to "global warming" from human CO2-emissions. That level of alarmism is not representative of the populace, though, nor based on any "global warming" empirical evidence.
Per a recent survey, global warming/climate change ranks 9th out of 10 as a serious issue to be dealt with for New Zealanders. A clear 74% are unwilling to sacrifice their lifestyle for the AGW holy grail. And a full 80% believe that any CO2 regulations should not be allowed to impact employment.
So why do NZ's politicans and "climate scientists" push policies that are not representative of their citizens? Typically, this indicates a situation where the following phrase is apropos: "Follow the money..."
