Often this arrogance is presented in terms of "consensus," when in reality there is no such thing in climate science. One of the supposed areas of "consensus" is in the field of glaciers - "there all melting and will soon disappear"! As the above linked articles indicate, the science of glaciers is in its infancy and it is dynamic. New discoveries are being made all the time, which keeps upsetting the current thinking.

Despite the new science that indicates glaciers aren't as in dire danger as hyped, the IPCC continues to insist that their old science is correct. It's not only the individual climate scientist that is arrogant.

AP Says Obama Like Mr. Spock: Er, Guys…One Major Problem With That Spock Thing, Vulcans Don't Lie

Read here. It's pretty evident that Obama has a truth allergy, which would make Spock blush green. And there is always that science + logic thing that Spock pulls on Dr. McCoy. Like, for example, if the scientific evidence (temperatures) goes the opposite of what is hypothesized by the theory, for let's say some 10+ years, Spock would state it's only logical that the theory (AGW) is illogical. Now, add to this that the Obama administration has chosen to passively condone the scientific fraud of Climategate, and the end result in reality is that Obama is the Anti-Spock as well as some other 'anti' personages more than likely.

Finally, this AP report by Seth Borenstein is just another example of the fantastic, liberal-leftist science reporting that the mainstream press science reporters are now producing, NOT. It's bad, and getting much, much worse. Actually, it's a national disgrace that serious journalism has fallen to this level. The Copenhagen (COP15) reporting will be a travesty.

Obama Was Warned About Potential Of A 'Climategate' - Did He Listen? Nope

Read here. Back in March of 2009, 100+ prominent scientists sent Obama a letter that countered the claims being made by the Climategate scientists. The claims based on the AGW hypothesis were being proven wrong by the actual data and the letter writers went out of their way to provide a fair and accurate warning of the problems with the AGW claims/predictions.

They had identified a "scientific" house-of-cards and stepped up to do the right thing. Unfortunately, neither Obama, nor the "expert" sycophants advising him (the leftist-liberals drooling over new 'cap & trade' revenue streams), listened. At that time Obama could have demanded more and better scientific evidence than just more hype and hysteria. Instead, he ignored the actual science and now the climate science fraud revealed by Climategate has blown up in his face on the eve of Copenhagen. Certainly not the best-of-breed leadership qualities that's needed in today's world.

A Climategate Solution: Open & Transparent Peer-Reveiw of Climate Model Software, ASAP

Read here. The Climategate emails and files from UAE-CRU has provided the evidence that scientists are cooking the data books and intimidating science journals not to publish AGW skeptic research. The leaked data has also provided insight at how incredibly unprofessional the software and supporting data has been created and maintained.

NASA shuttles, with a handful of humans, requires pristine software code and modeling. Likewise, if trillions of dollars are supposedly required to save billions of humans from climate change, then the supporting software and climate modeling programming has to also be pristine, stripped of all unprofessional coding and built-in programmer biases similar to those the CRU software was laden with. The only way to accomplish this is to have an open peer-review process that will go through the climate model code line-by-line, with thousands collaborating via the Internet.

It's the bare minimum the "world's leaders" at Copenhagen should demand of the climate scientific community, now that the deep-seated scientific Climategate fraud has been exposed.

ClimateGate Expands To New Zealand: Temperature Data Massively Adjusted To Create "Official" Global Warming

Will These Climate "Turkeys" Be Hauled Into Climategate Congressional Hearings?

Read here and here. An enlightening aspect of the Climategate conspiracy/fraud scandal is the large number of climate science "professionals" involved. In the situation of not responding to a legal and legitimate request for science data and information regarding published, peer-reviewed research, the below turkeys appear to have condoned the multiple actions to prevent the release of requested information from happening.

One can only surmise that these turkeys came to the conclusion that the climate data they were refusing to release was not robust enough to withstand normal scientific scrutiny. What other rationale could there be for their condoning the illegal prevention of releasing the simple data requested by the article's author - for goodness sakes, it was only a list of climate stations used in their own research. Talk about incredibly poor judgment, and what must be the combined IQ's matching a turkey brain.

The Climate Liars: U.S. Agency Publishes Report That Misleadingly Indicates That Number of "Record" Daily High Temperatures Increasing

As the world has learned over the last week, IPCC climate science has operated in the fraud/conspiracy realm in order to bolster a global warming "crisis" in anticipation of the Copenhagen (COP-15) meeting in December. It has become very obvious that climate alarmist scientists have presented fabricated temperature records that point to "unprecedented" warming, which actually isn't. They also seek out ways to present temperature data in unique ways that leaves the impression that temperatures are warming. Such was the recent NCAR study that reported an increasing maximum/minimum temperature ratio that global warming exists and is a serious problem. So, if we are to believe NCAR then there must be a lot more maximum temperature records being set, right? As the chart below shows, nothing could be further from the truth. Climategate: A Brief Summary of The UN's IPPC Global Warming Science Scandal, Fraud, Conspiracy

The last few days has seen much written about the incredible Machiavellian machinations a preeminent group of UN-IPCC climate scientists has conducted over the last decade, with their objective being the swaying of public opinion and politicians that a global warming induced climate change crisis is an imminent catastrophe. A fair summary of these Machiavellian gyrations and subterfuge, as revealed by the publication of secret emails and data files, would be:

• First, a real attempt by a small group of scientists to subvert the [scientific] peer-review process and suppress dissenting voices. This is at best massively unethical.
• Second, a willingness to manipulate the data to make a political case. This is certainly misconduct and possibly scientific fraud. This, if it proves true, should make these scientists subject to strong disciplinary action, even termination of their tenured positions.
• Third, what gives every appearance of an actual conspiracy to prevent data from being released as required by the Freedom of Information Acts in the US and UK. If this is proven true, that is a federal crime.

As the vast majority of global warming skeptics have claimed, the climate science emanating from the IPCC regarding "unprecedented" global warming would not be able to withstand the critical and robust scientific scrutiny that a proper and open scientific process affords. As it now has been revealed by the secret emails and data files, the actual climate scientist proponents of the IPCC global warming science effort came to the exact same conclusion as the skeptics: the IPCC global warming science was definitely not robust, and the underlying data and programs could never be allowed to see the light of day or be provided for an honest, critical scrutiny and assessment by the scientific community.

What one can now safely conclude from this IPCC scientific fiasco and fraud conspiracy is that no one should be frightened about an imminent climate crisis caused by human CO2 emissions. The unprecedented/accelerating global warming that was to percipitate this fantastic crisis does not exist in reality.

Read here. The small number of climate scientists actually supporting the Al Gore/IPCC claims of catastrophic global warming and the actual AGW "predictions" has always been a major embarrassment. As a result, the left/liberal/greens have been forced to fabricate bogus support that can't stand up to any form of scrutiny.

First, it was the claim that 2,500 IPCC-related scientists agreed with the 2007 IPCC report. Soon afer it was discovered that the actual number of scientists who actually agreed with the report contents was only 25.

Next, when the 2,500 shrunk to 25, a couple of University of Illinois researchers conjured up a 2-minute online, anonymous survey that they hoped would deliver some big numbers to crow about. They solicited 10,257 earth scientists and only 77 chose to answer the online survey (yes, only 77). 75 of those "climate scientists" agreed with the survey's two questions (yes, only 2 questions).

Voila, the infamous and widely publicized "97%" of climate scientists (75 divided by 77) who thought man was the cause of global warming turned out to be a numeric joke.

As a side note, in order to assure an initial high survey percentage, the two researchers did not ask major segments of the scientific world to participate. Those would be the segments that were known to be critical of the AGW theory, including: solar scientists, space scientists, cosmologists, physicists, meteorologists and astronomers.

The Fundamentals of The IPCC's 'Hockey Stick' Created By Michael Mann: The Illusion

 

Much time has been spent investigating Mann's 'hockey stick', and a marvelous book has been written about its bogosity and the tangled web of Climategate scientists behind it. Two separate investigations by U.S. authorities eventually discredited this science to the point where the IPCC was forced to omit it from its 2007 report.

As a reminder, the infamous 'hockey stick' was an attempt by Climategate scientists to replace a well established, consensus temperature record with a new one that would show modern temperatures as being "unprecedented," even when compared to the Medieval Warming Period. (Note: Image source here. Notice how the above hockey stick graph depicts pre-modern temperatures as being of insignificant variation, with both the Medieval Warming and the Little Ice Age being nothing more than blips in temperatures.)

This clownish version of "science" included doing the following to accomplish this objective for the IPCC and its reports:

• 1. Utilized a discredited statistical technique that selected tree ring records that exhibited a sharp 20th century increase (the hockey stick "blade") - plus excluding those tree ring records that had a lack of 20th century warming
• 2. Included tree species that exhibited a sharp 20th century increase, which all tree ring experts knew were not a response to higher temperatures but to other factors (mainly to the increase of CO2 fertilization)
• 3. Utilized a bogus statistical technique that over-weighted tree-ring records that exhibited a sharp 20th century increase, by at least 390 times
• 4. The rapid 20th century "blade" temperature increase mostly disappears when the above three points are properly corrected
• 5. Michael Mann, and authors of subsequent hockey stick look-alike studies, withheld the key r² statistical validation measurement of their temperature reconstructions for a critical reason - the extremely low r² of their studies statistically proved their proxy temperature reconstructions were worthless (statistically insignificant)
• 6. Michael Mann, and authors of subsequent hockey stick look-alike studies, withheld the key data, algorithms and software used in their proxy reconstructions to eliminate the possibility that other scientists would ever challenge their findings
• 7. Michael Mann and other paleo-climate scientists appear to misrepresent/hide other proxy temperature reconstructions that did not exhibit a sharp 20th century increase - commonly referred to as "Mike's trick" and the "hide the decline" tactic.
